Event Highlights

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”   – Psalms 46:1  (NIV)

Come spend a week in Marathon, FL offshore on a 46 foot sailboat, Refuge! Days will be spent sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, and exploring islands. Campers will be on teams to help cook meals and do daily chores to keep the ship in tip-top shape. Time of worship, daily devotions, and team building will all take place. Campers will be stretched and pushed out of their comfort zone in crazy ways embarking on a wild experience.  These events are for high schooler (age 14-18) only.

A 46 feet of sailboat sounds like a lot  of space until there’s 9 people on board! The less you pack, the better. It will be a place of close quarters and campers will be stretched in their communication and teamwork skills. For sleeping,  each person will have the option to sleep inside on a bed, although most participants prefer to sleep on an air mattress outside – it’s breezier and under the stars!

We’re cooking on the sailboat! From French toast to BBQ, everyone will pitch in making tasty meals during camp.

A 46-foot sailboat can go from feeling spacious to cramped very quickly when 9 people and 9 people’s belongings come aboard. Packing light is ideal, bringing what you need but not extra. If you have any questions about the packing list please contact EShattuck@EndsCamping.com.

Q: “What adults will be on the boat?”

  • A: “A U.S Coastguard certified captain will be on the vessel as well as 2 college crew members. All adults have been background checked, certified in first aid & CPR, and extensive experience working with youth

Q: I’m a parent and want to come on the boat. Is that allowed?

  • A: Unfortunately due to the limited capacity of the boat, only the captain, crew, and 6 youth are allowed on the boat.

Q: What do you do in severe weather?

  • A: Pop up squalls are very common in the summer in Florida. The captain will make the safest decision on a case-by-base basis which usually entails anchoring the boat and hunkering down until the storm passes. In the event of a named storm, parents/guardians will be notified no later than 48 hours before the storm that the camp is canceled and pick up arrangements will be made for all participants

Q: Are you all sleeping on the boat?

  • A: Sure are! Beds are available inside for youth but sleeping outside in the breeze under the stars is usually the popular choice. That’s why we have a sleeping pad and pillow on the packing list.
